It has a state university campus (Rutgers), medical and dental schools in a health complex (UMDNJ), a law school (Seton Hall), a technical college (New Jersey Institute of Technology, which in 1939 was Central High's next-door neighbor known as Newark College of Engineering), and a junior college (Essex County College, not to be confused with the Essex Junior College on Broadway that I attended in 1939).
