1.    The Weequahic Diner was built in 1938 by the Kullman Dining Car Company in Harrison.  It was prefabricated in the Kullman factory in Harrison, and then re-assembled on its 306-308 Elizabeth Avenue site by factory workmen, atop a two-level basement.  It was the largest Kullman diner ever built up to that time.

The diner exterior was covered with vertical red porcelain flutes (half-cylinders) with stainless steel strips in between.  The Weequahic Diner exterior would later become a Kullman trademark which today identifies many Kullman diners that closely resemble the original.
